Assignment Explanation
For this quarter, you will read and discuss a book with a partner. This means that you and your partner will select a novel to read or you will each read different novels and share them with each other looking for talking points.
What You Will Do
On the wiki, keep regular reading notes which should include a summary and reaction from each reader. You may collaborate on the summary or take turns by alternating who writes the summary, but each reader should post a reaction for each section. The point is to engage in a back and forth by asking questions or sharing thoughts about what you are reading.
Twice during the semester the entire class will read through the wiki pages and post a comment or question for the readers.
By the end of the quarter, you should have posted 8-10 summaries and responses. It is likely that you will have more responses if you and your partner engage in a lively discussion.
Tip: Often readers will share with each other favorite lines from the book as they are reading. If you find a "line" or turn of phrase or selection which is especially meaningful to you or that you find noteworthy for any reason, quote it for your partner with the page number and have a discussion about that.
The breakdown of the scoring is:
Summary of section (50 points)
Thoughtful responses/discussion with partner (50 points)
Discussion tab posts for each class group (40 points)
